Ambrose Depiazzi

enters ALF's Hall of Fame

IF there was anything you wanted to know about the Australian Lions Foundation look no further that PCC Ambrose Depiazzi.

The Mandurah charter member was its first chairman and held the job for five years. But there's much more to the history of Ambrose and Lions. Ambrose entered ALF's Hall of Fame at the Mildura Convention and that lead us to find out more about the man who goes about his job in a calm manner.

DG Neil Saunders summoned Ambrose to attend the W2 Districts Awards night and made the presentation.

Ambrose was a charter member of the Mandurah Lions Club in 1964 and took on the role of treasurer, probably because lie was an accountant and so the first plank was nailed. A couple of years later and after more service with the Mandurah club he served on cabinet as zone chairman.

In 1976-77 Ambose had a good taste on cabinet then through his hat into the ring and was elected as vice District Governor and then DG.

The following year the newly elected vice District Governors endorsed him as council chairman at a very tender age.

Later came his application to serve as International Director. DG Jack Sells write about Ambrose in a promotional leaflet.

"He stands out as the youngest candidate with considerable experience to offer Lions. He firmly believes in the organisation and the people in it, encouraging their participation at every level.”

Lion Ambrose has the integrity, the ability, and dedication to serve without compromise. Above all. he is loyal and displays the calibre of a leader true to his principles. A fluent speaker, he has addressed several District Lions Conventions, on occasion being called upon to give the keynote speech. This indicates the respect and high esteem in which he is regarded throughout this Multiple District Lions from both W-Districts hired a bus to ferry members to the Mildura Convention to support Ambrose's application.

Ambrose failed to make the grade but it was in the same city Mildura thirty years later he did receive a standing ovation.

After serving as ALF chairman for one year he decided to add four more years to the list and that and numerous portfolios including two terms as president of the Mandurah club.

Ambrose lives in the city and commutes to Mandurah to attend meetings. He is a bottomless pit of Lions information and many Lions use him to sound out their intentions.
